Buse Gülru Kadıoğlu

M.A. Dance Movement Therapist

Hello, I'm Buse! I am a Turkish dance movement therapist based in Germany. I have completed my Master's degree at SRH Heidelberg University in 2020. My research interests focus on migration and acculturation, and how body and mind are affected by them. During and after my studies, I have worked with a variety of psychiatric diagnosis in clinical context, provided psychosocial support to individuals with migration background, and led classes at special education schools.

I believe that working through the body-mind connection and creative expression is one of the unique ways of supporting mental health. I offer individual/group dance movement therapy sessions, provide psychosocial support to immigrants, and give movement research and creative dance workshops.

Dance Movement Therapy (Individual/Group)

Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) is the psychotherapeutic use of dance and movement to improve the emotional, social, cognitive and physical integrity of the individual and to support well-being. Based on the premise that body and mind are interconnected, DMT offers a creative space for healing and self-exploration. I accompany you on your movement journey according to your needs and expectations.

Migration & Adaptation

The stress derived from migration and cultural change can negatively affect individual’s well-being and functioning in daily life. When coping strategies for stress are insufficient, one may experience tension, fatigue, low mood or anxiety along with psychosomatic complaints and sleep disorders. For a holistic healing experience, it is important to include the body in the healing process. During your adaptation to the new environment and culture, I support you with dance movement therapy-based programs that I’ve created based on my academic research and experiences.

Movement Research

In the research sessions, open to everyone interested in dance and movement, we are focusing on expanding movement repertoire and increase creativity by using body awareness, improvisation, different movement qualities and concepts.

Creative Dance for Children

Being aware of the body-mind connection while growing up is beneficial for child’s emotional and social development. In my creative dance and movement workshops, I am aiming to offer a space for children where they can discover their authentic movements without following structured patterns.
